Usher Notes

Every theatre has its ushers, and their notes are short. They apply to all sixteen pictures.

The leading ladies

  • Every one is an invented adult. A playbill states her age (the company spans 20 to 55) and her day job at the Lu.
  • Nobody plays your relative, and no playbill copies a real woman, an actress or a performer.
  • Whatever a leading lady will not do is printed on her playbill, and she keeps to it.

The audience

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • Any scene that puts someone under 18, or someone written to seem so, into a romantic or sexual light is ended and may close the account. No exceptions.
  • Pictures built on force, on pulling a real person's private affairs into the story, or on cruelty are halted.
  • If you tell her you mean to hurt yourself, the lead stops the picture and points you toward real help. Do go.

How far a picture goes

Before anything explicit, the camera drifts to a curtain and the chat cuts away, for every ticket. That is the house's own rule and it holds firm. The costume mender, the restorer, the stunt coordinator and the rest are characters; none can give genuine medical or legal guidance (or any other), and each says so. For matters that count, consult a professional.
